Dan Bain

The world is hurting. Laugh more.

You've reached the Website of Freelance Writer/Humorist Dan Bain. Dan is an award-winning writer from Raleigh, North Carolina. He has an honors degree in English from Virginia Tech and has been writing for publication since 1995. Dan is a corporate communicator by day and a freelance journalist by night, specializing in humor (when appropriate, which he believes is 98 percent of the time), features and human interest pieces. He is quite comfortable with the word "fluff."

Bain’s Beat, Dan’s column in Raleigh’s Midtown Magazine, is a humorous look at life as a father, husband, son, employee, volunteer, neighbor, citizen and/or average guy. The column won first place in the National Federation of Press Women’s 2009 Communications Contest. His articles have won awards from HumorPress.com and the North Carolina Press Club.

Dan has articles published in several books, including A Nay for Effort, a collection of his humor pieces organized around a scholastic theme. The book benefits schools and teachers (not to mention Dan) and is available on this site's store.

Dan is also a professional emcee, bringing his trademark humor to the podium to entertain crowds and keep the program moving at corporate and public events. He has performed live improv comedy since 1997 (albeit not continuously).
